Nearly Drowned!
One sunny morning,
when I was just a little girl, me and my family had decided to go to the beach
for my Lola’s birthday. Many relatives, cousins, etc. were invited that day. We
were very happy and had a lot of fun at the beach.
But not for me, I
was alone sitting on the sand, jealous of the fun they had experienced. I was
not included by their fun because they said that games are not for little
children so, I was very sad and a little bit angry of course. The little me had
longed for someone to invite me to join their games but there was none. My father
had noticed my loneliness and had an idea of buying the big “salbadida” (a
floating circle tube with a hole at the center that we usually see them used by
children in pools). And so, my father bought the big “salbadida” and had given
it to me to make me happy. And so, I was happy and my cousins were jealous of
me. I had realized that the “salbadida” was too big for me that I cannot ride
it even though I used all my might with my fragile little body. My cousins had
noticed it and helped me to climb up the “salbadida” and was very happy. They escorted
me to the sea but I had noticed that they were smirking and laughing secretly
and I was beginning to worry that I might drown as we go farther (note: I cannot
swim when I was a kid). The waves that time were very monstrous and big that’s
what I thought about it for a little kid like me. And suddenly, a big wave
swallowed us and I was the one who was greatly affected by it. When I was under
the water, I opened my eyes and darkness rules the surroundings below and
beside me but not above. There were people floating from above where I could
also find light. I tried to call for help but I couldn’t, I kept sinking and
sinking to the cold and deepest part of the sea and was running out of oxygen. And
so, I’ve put myself together and had swum above reaching the people floating
above to get help. As soon as I had got out of from the water, I hurriedly hugged
the nearest person and that person was my Tito Romel and the others were my
mother, my tita and my other tito. I cried and cried and was relieved that I
saved myself with all my strength. My mother and others were very shocked
because all they knew was that I’m just playing with the sand. My cousins were
having fun with my “salbadida” that my father had given me with. That day, I said
to myself that I was very very very very unlucky.
ahh.. Cheilvey your almost sink that time but you know everything happens has a purpose. i guess from that time, you'll never be afraid of water? If not. oh how sad.. but maybe you already know how to swim and I guess you love swimming nowadays.... hehehe.. Don't forget that god is always there to hep us and to guide us.
